On May 11, 2004 Janet Murray, R.E.H.S. Environmental Health Supervisor of the Randolph Co. Health Dept. announced that there has been a confirmed case of rabies found in a bat in Moberly. “The bat was found in a home within the City limits, and because it did test positive for rabies, and there was the possibility of human contact, we are issuing a Rabies Alert for this area.” This rabies alert means that there has been an increase in the number of rabid animals in the area. This poses a potential danger to both domestic animals and humans. All household pets such as dogs, and cats should be vaccinated against rabies, by a veterinarian, as soon as possible. Please contact your veterinarian or The Randolph County Health Department 660-263-6643 for more information.
