Health Classes

Health education is important for your personal wellness as well as an effective way to promote a healthy lifestyle. Randolph County Health Department wants to make sure that you are maximizing your personal health by all means possible. We offer many different classes to our residents that cover a variety of topics. These classes can also offer you a support system and benefit your personal health and goals, whether it be learning more about breastfeeding or finding tools and support for quitting smoking. We also offer classes for improving safety in the workplace covering topics such as first aid and food handling. These classes provide you with the opportunity to earn certification. Breastfeeding Support

Breastfeeding Support Group

Our Breastfeeding Support Group includes a monthly “Latch and Learn”, held the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 11:30 a.m. in the Education Room at the Health Department.  An Internationally Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is available for consultation and trained peer counselors are on staff for added guidance and support.  Peer Counselors can be reached through a help line 24 hours a day to answer questions or assist with problems you may be having with breastfeeding. CPR/First Aid

CPR/First Aid Classes

Learn to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies.  Our CPR and First Aid classes are taught by American Heart Association (AHA) certified instructors.  We offer AHA Heartsaver and Pediatric CPR AED and First Aid classes for lay-person rescuers, and AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals.

Upcoming Classes:

Pediatric AHA Heartsaver and CPR AED

Starting in 2017, Pediatric CPR/First Aid Classes will be held over two evenings.  You must be present at both evening classes to receive your Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certificate.

AHA Heartsaver and CPR AED  First Aid Class:

Starting in 2017, Regular Heartsaver/First Aid Classes will be held on as needed basis. Call 660-263-6643 ext. 222 to schedule a class.

AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals:

Starting in 2017, BLS will be held from 9:00-12:00

Registration is required to attend class and seats are limited.  Please call (660)-263-6643 to register. Classes may be cancelled if there is lack of registration.

Schedule for Food Managers' Class

Class Location: Health Education Room You must register to attend these classes at least 3 weeks prior to the class. Payment is expected when you register unless other arrangements are made with the instructor. Space is limited. Classes begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. (8-hour class).

Get Help and Kick the Habit! The Randolph County Health Department is currently offering smoking cessation classes. These classes meet once a week for 6 weeks.  Class fees are $35 per person - assistance may be available to those who qualify. If you are interested in attending a class, please contact 660-263-6643 ext 3020 or by email. Free quit aids (nicotine patches or gum) are available while supplies last.
