At the Randolph County Health Department our Nurse Practitioners serve as our primary care providers, focusing on a variety of health care services in Moberly, MO.

Primary care providers are the first contact for an individual with an undiagnosed sign, symptom, or health concern.  They handle most basic medical needs, including wellness visits and routine screenings, non-emergency illnesses, and health questions and concerns.  More specifically, our Nurse Practitioners do physicals and annual women’s health care examinations, counsel their patients on healthy lifestyle choices, and recommend and prescribe birth control pills and other medicines.

Primary care services treat acute medical illnesses such as common colds, sinus infections, stomach problems, and skin rashes, for example, but also more chronic health problems such as acne, depression, asthma, high blood pressure, and allergies.

In sum, they provide complete health care, and work closely with specialists in other fields of health and medicine to keep their patients healthy.  Consultation or referral is used when appropriate, as patient-advocacy is important to accomplish cost-effective care through coordination of services.
