The Magic City Express began on September 4, 2000. Months of planning by a committee of over 30 individuals representing transportation providers, the faith community, social service agencies including the Randolph County Health Department and Caring Communities of Randolph County resulted in Moberly’s newest transportation service. The Magic City Express is 12 passenger, handicapped accessible van that provides rides from 6:00 am to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday within the Moberly city limits.
Riders pay $2.00 for each one way trip and must make a reservation by phone at least one day in advance. The service is available to anyone regardless of age or income and may be used to go to any destination in Moberly, with curb to curb service. Children under 12, accompanied by a parent, ride free.
The Magic City Express receives 50% of its funding from a Missouri Department of Transportation grant. The remaining funding comes from local donations, rider fees, and income from the sale of advertising displayed on the Express Van.
